Virginia’s Hunt Country Trail Ride

Explore the area known as the “Constitution Route” just as our forefathers did. Riding wonderful sport horses, you will explore the countryside where three of our first five President’s made their homes, where Generals Grant and Lee met for the first time in battle, and where wine lovers are enjoying the fruits of the “eastern Napa Valley”.

Each day you will ride out through the famous hunt country and enjoy brisk trots and canters through wooded groves and open hilly meadows. Riding by old confederate railway tracks and on Civil War roads, the history of our country will be brought to life as you hear the soft sounds of your horses hooves on the paths in the vicinity of homesteads such as Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and James Madison’s Montpelier.

Situated on an historic 37 acre Virginia Plantation, your Inn dates back to 1778 and the beginning of our nation. Withstanding the ravages of two wars, trenches and breastworks are visible near the manor house and a cannonball was recently removed from the eaves, the inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been designated a Virginia Historic Landmark. Your room has been decorated in period antiques and warm, comfortable beds which provide a sound nights sleep after a sumptuous meal in the formal dining room.
