Questions & Answers

Savvy travelers will consider a number of options before deciding on their perfect journey.  Be sure that you’ve made the right decision on destination, price, trip activities and more.  Here is a bit of information about Perfect Journeys that you should knw.

What is your travel background?

With 36 years experience in international travel, Judy Newell is a specialist in luxury and adventure travel. She was an executive with Travcoa, the Automobile Club of Southern California, Boeing Leisure Travel and the Galapagos Tourist Corp. prior to moving to San Miguel de Allende. Her company, Perfect Journeys, is registered in the United States with a business bank account at Chase Bank.

What is your maximum group size?

We are opposed to the idea of big, plodding groups, so in most cases our maximum size is 16 travelers. There will be a minimum number of guests necessary to operate custom group tours. Upon request, we will create private travel programs for individuals, couples, family or friends traveling together. Cruises will accommodate larger group numbers.

Can you arrange pre- and post-trip and cruise extensions?

Yes, we can arrange customized travel arrangements and tour extensions throughout the world.

Do you book airfare?

Not usually, unless it is part of a tour or cruise package. Our specialties are custom tour design and luxury and adventure travel programs. Today many people book air reservations online or use their frequent flyer mileage for their vacations. We will recommend flights as airport arrival and departure transfers are often on a group basis at a predetermined time.

Do you recommend travel insurance?

Yes. We can supply you with travel insurance and recommend that you purchase it at the time of booking your trip. Most trips have steep penalty charges for canceling at the last minute. If you think there are reasonable odds that you might not be able to make the trip (medical condition, unstable situation in your destination) or if you’re traveling with a group of friends, travel insurance is a smart option.

Base your decision on the amount of money you’re spending, your tolerance for financial risk, and the cost of the policy. But read the fine print carefully because each policy is slightly different. Most policies include medical coverage, trip protection, baggage loss, and medical evacuation. But policies differ in coverage of weather disasters, terrorism, and preexisting medical conditions. No policy will refund your money if you simply change your mind about taking a trip.

Policies cost between 5 and 7.5 % of the trip’s cost (most base rates start at under $100).
